I have spent decades of my career building and renovating homes and apartments. I know how to create spaces that are aesthetic, functional, and structurally sound. However, I’ve noticed a recurring gap in the modern suburban build. We invest in designer finishes and smart security, yet we often overlook what I would call “suburban readiness”—the ability for our homes to be self-sustaining even when the outside world stops.
In the suburbs, our lifestyle is uniquely vulnerable. we rely on a "just-in-time" supply chain and a power grid that a single storm can disrupt. If the local pharmacy runs out of stock or grocery shelves go empty for seventy-two hours, even the most well-appointed home becomes operationally frozen.
I don’t believe you should ever have to "rough it" in your own home.
I founded the Suburban Survivalist to redefine what it means to be prepared in the 2020s and beyond. I look at readiness as the ultimate home luxury - a seamless integration to help ensure your family’s life remains uninterrupted regardless of the unforeseen.
